Conscious Coore began Flamingo Trauma Recovery in 2020, amidst a long-term career in education and a global pandemic. Eight years before the organization became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Conscious graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology, believing that what people understand about life as adults begins with early childhood experiences. Although she thought it logical to pursue a clinical academic track, Conscious felt a strong calling to closely observe children and how they develop in the space where they spend most of their time: schools.
For nine years, Conscious worked as a licensed public school educator, perfecting her craft, coaching teachers, and serving in leadership and administration. In 2025, life changed entirely. Flamingo Trauma Recovery, which began as a part-time nonprofit initiative blending lived experience with spiritual care, deliverance ministry, discipleship, clinical support, and therapy, became a full-time job and the only way forward.
Already committed to spiritual liberation and spiritual formation, Conscious found herself facing another level of commitment and a choice that could change her life and the lives of believers everywhere.
Increased conviction and productive stress brought Conscious to the realization that bridging mental health and faith through mental health education, therapy sponsorship, and professional training was not simply an area of interest. It was a life purpose. Her struggle to make the leap into entrepreneurship, along with many false starts, came to an end when she was released from her job, along with more than 10 personnel across two sites in the network.
That moment gave her a clarity that personal trauma and six years in this work had not yet provided: God is responding to “spilled blood.” Her personal story connects to this work in the same way that anybody’s might, because we all have experiences with trauma, faith, and how the church responds to it all. But her “why” is rooted in the belief that the world, the church, and people’s internal conditions are in a state of emergency.
She remains committed to this work under the conviction that the time for the church, and for those who live by the Kingdom of God, to respond to the mental health crisis, religious trauma, and trauma-informed spiritual warfare and care is now, not later. In true educator fashion, she leads from the front while working within the field to ensure that the needed cultural shift is understood conceptually and replicated widely. Her goal is for leaders, ministers, and faith-based business owners to take the world by storm, empowered, equipped, and clear about their training and direction.

I DON'T APOLOGIZE: MY DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS AND REDEMPTION
I Don’t Apologize is a poetic memoir that considers the compelling nature of darkness and contemplates the miraculous nature of light. The rhythmic narrative details the desperate condition and result of childhood traumas including sexual abuse, incest, and a broken home. I Don’t Apologize is a redemption story of the silenced, misunderstood, and unknown. Through various approaches to storytelling, the author leans into profound, historical truths and illustrates the power of elusive, but attainable light.
TRAUMA-INFORMED GOD: 7 DAY DEVOTIONAL
